WORK for HOME

HOMEWORK ROUTINE:

Spelling
Weekly spelling lists will be sent home on Mondays.
Review the words briefly with your child to see what sort of additional practice will be needed for the week!   Your child will either be on list A or list B, based on spelling pre-test results.  Words will be tested on Fridays.

Math Simple Solutions
One math Simple Solutions lesson will be assigned each afternoon - Monday through Thursday.    It is okay to assist your child with these pages... in fact, I prefer you check them over and discuss - allows them to feel more confident when turning in these pages.

Behavior Calendar
Please initial the behavior calendar nightly.  If nothing else, this assures me that your child has shown you his/her folder each day and the papers have traveled home safely.  If a mark is on the calendar, reassure your child that we all make mistakes.  The goal is to learn from the check mark, so discuss and at home and review expectations - I'll be doing the same during the school day.  If this becomes a habit, then you will be receiving a phone call from me so that we can begin to put a better plan in place for your child so he/she can be as successful as possible this school year!

Special Projects
We do complete grade level home projects, but typically no more than one per quarter.  LOTS of communication will come regarding these as they surface throughout the year.

Math Fluency
Students will be expected to be working towards obtaining memorization of their math facts in 3rd grade.   We will start with subtraction, then move on to multiplication.  Practicing flash cards, accessing various apps, or visiting websites are all great ways to build of this crucial math fluency!  (Once the facts are down pat, the rest of the concepts fall into place so much more effortlessly!)
